This is a full-time role based out of our office in Old Street, London. We can only consider applicants who are able to work 3 days per week from the office.

1. Overview
FX Digital is a London-based Connected TV-first and OTT app technology company. We collaborate with some of the biggest names in streaming to develop their streaming applications across smart TVs, set-top boxes, streaming sticks, and game consoles. We are proud to have worked with clients including Discovery, BritBox, ITV, and ATP Media.
FX Digital has a dynamic, cross-functional Product Design Department composed of both Product Designers and Product Managers. This structure allows team members to flex their skill set to contribute across roles, leveraging their core competencies while gaining a more well-rounded perspective of product and UX design. This synergy is a significant strength for FX, enhancing our efficiency and effectiveness in delivering best in class products for our clients.
Our current team includes the Creative Director, who manages our two Product Designers, and a Senior Product Manager, who will be managing you. We hold weekly team meetings focused on upskilling, training, and refining our product processes. We are excited to expand our team by hiring a Mid-Weight Product Manager to join our exceptional unit!
At FX, our product specialists work as the voice of our clients, working closely with the client and the project team to gather and communicate requirements and realise the vision. Each client-side team is unique, with varying levels of product ownership. In some projects, we follow the client’s lead closely, while in others, we take a more active role in defining requirements and steering the product direction. Adaptability is key to meeting the needs of each project and client team structure.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of connected TV, working alongside product leaders in the streaming media industry and the passionate and experienced team at FX.
Below is a summary of the requirements for the role.
2. Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with your project team and client team members.
2.1 Requirements Gathering and Direction Setting
- Organise and facilitate relevant activities and workshops with clients, third parties, and project steers to define and prioritise the product’s requirements with support from the Senior Product Manager.
- Facilitate project kick-off meetings and presentations with the assigned team members to onboard them to the project. In the process, you create and share relevant onboarding documentation in collaboration with appropriate team members.
- Create key product documentation such as Product Requirement Documents, story maps, and defining the product priorities.
- Gather, organise and priorities requirements (functional, non functional, usability, accessibility, availability etc)
- Create the delivery roadmap, ensuring alignment on expectations with the client and team regarding what will be included in the product's initial release (MVP definition) and subsequent phases.
2.2 Writing User Stories
- Own the creation of user stories, collaborating with team members to refine and capture User Acceptance Criteria for each user story.
- Proactively identify and manage ambiguity around requirements, effectively manage competing priorities, and balance the needs of all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the project steers, PMs and clients to anticipate and mitigate product risks.
- Maintain user stories throughout the project's development and participating in key ceremonies such as 3 amigos, backlog refinement, and sprint planning sessions.
- Champion a user-centric approach to product development, advocating for the customer's voice throughout the product lifecycle and prioritising features and enhancements based on user needs and feedback.
2.3 Prioritisation
- Lead the project team in making informed decisions regarding what to build and when to build it, ensuring the product roadmap reflects strategic priorities.
- Use prioritisation techniques to streamline decision-making and maintain focus on high-impact product initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including client side Product Owners, and internal project team Project Managers, Engineers, QA and Designers, to gain consensus on prioritisation decisions.
- Continuously monitor and reassess priorities in response to changes in the client’s business priorities, introduction of any bugs or blockers ensuring that the product backlog remains dynamic and adaptable.
- Balance short-term tactical goals with long-term strategic initiatives to deliver incremental value while working towards our clients north star & product vision.
2.4 Shipping products
- Work with the project teams to ensure applications meet the platform vendor certification requirements, accounting for these early in requirements-gathering process and ensuring these are met throughout the project.
- Manage communications with platform vendors to drive the app through to pass submission. You ensure stakeholders are regularly updated and there's clear documentation regarding the progress reports of the submissions.
- Work with Project Managers & project teams to ensure the smooth submission of applications and product releases.
- Provide guidance to clients and the project team to implement reporting of success metrics to measure the effectiveness of product releases.
2.5 Collaboration
Our Product Design Team work cross-functionally and lean on each other's strengths to contribute to the success of our projects.
- Work effectively in a cross-functional team.
- Be an independent leader representing the company who works closely with clients to shape their products. Product Managers may work onsite on the client side, run requirements-gathering workshops, and support pitches and RFPs for new projects.
- Ensure teams adhere to the best product practices defined across projects. Support the team's growth by sharing insights and providing constructive feedback.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with multiple client team members and partners across various roles.
- Attend industry events & webinars, continuing to increase knowledge of the OTT industry, product trends, and processes.
2.6 Product Processes
- Continuously refine processes for greater efficiency.
- Be passionate about product processes and regularly up-skill and learn new product practices, methods, and team dynamics.
- Work closely with the Senior Product Manager to continually review our product processes, iteratively improving them or rolling out new processes to contribute to team efficiency and provide value to clients.
2.7 Research
Typically clients have already carried out their own research to define their product strategy ahead of engaging with FX. Occasionally, we are requested to run various research activities to help define the overall product strategy and influence product decisions.
As FX continues to evolve, our vision is to grow our strategic service offering, which will involve research activities. In this role you may be required to plan, run and present research activities in collaboration with the product design team, however, this is very occasionally required.
- Create research plans, setting research objectives and ensuring that activities are aligned with business objectives and key business metrics.
- Design, plan and conduct user research studies, such as interviews, surveys, usability tests, and ethnographic studies, to uncover user behaviours, pain points, and preferences.
- Analyse research findings to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities and translate these into actionable insights that drive product improvements and innovation.
- Define and create audience personas for a product that represent key user segments, their behaviours, pains, needs, and goals.
- Creating customer journey maps to visualise and understand the end-to-end user experience, mapping out touch points, interactions, and pain points across various stages of the customer journey.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and technological advancements to identify opportunities and threats, keeping the product roadmap aligned with market realities.
- Communicate progress, findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- If you are not conducting the research directly then you help to facilitate and ensure the right research is being done to answer the right questions about the product.
2.8 Strategic Account Roadmapping
Fostering strong client relationships is fundamental to FX Digital’s work. Our Product Managers are responsible for organising quarterly workshops to set priorities and providing strategic insights to support our clients to create their product roadmaps.
- Run and /or support quarterly direction-setting workshops in your project’s run phase. These workshops aim to have consistent touch points with client teams to set the priorities for now, next, and future work items and aid in growing the account.
- Communicate insights gathered from roadmapping sessions to the client, Project Manager to feed into the creation of the product roadmap and delivery plans.
- Communicate opportunities identified to the sales team to support them in their negotiations for further contract renewals for your project and contract extensions ahead of time.
2.9 Analytics & Industry benchmarking
Clients are responsible for reporting on their applications' analytics and performance. While FX often has access to these reports and analytics dashboards, our involvement in leveraging these insights has been limited.
Individuals in this role should proactively engage with key analytics platforms and collaborate closely with clients. By doing so, we can gain deeper visibility into these reports and effectively utilise the information to inform product strategies.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with product goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and recommendations on how product KPIs can be measured effectively, identifying data sources, defining tracking parameters, and establishing benchmarks for success.
- Have a good understanding of key analytical tools such as GA, MUX, mTribes, and Piano and know how to generate basic reports.
- When required, work with client teams and our engineering teams to help ensure analytics tools are set up correctly to provide accurate tracking.
- When rolling out new features and meaningful updates to applications, work with clients and the project team to ensure that relevant tracking is in place to monitor the success or failure of these initiatives.
- If feasible, drive data-driven decision-making by analysing user feedback post-release, identifying actionable insights, and proposing enhancements to optimise user satisfaction.
2.10 Domain Knowledge
(Nice to have) Applicants should have a understanding of the streaming sector across media and sports.
- Have an understanding of:
- The media entertainment and sports industries and the priorities and challenges streaming brands face.
- The streaming competitive landscape, monitoring and analysing competitor products and strategies to support our clients in their products.
- Critical KPIs for streaming apps, including conversion rates, retention & churn rates, watch times, etc., across OTT products in different territories and verticals. You ensure these insights are shared with the broader team.
- CTV platform vendors and various platform requirements.
- The various technologies used across the OTT industry.
- Have an awareness of key OTT partners and competitors working in our space.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams, leveraging domain knowledge to drive product innovation and differentiation.
